Here are some great reasons to use the Word to pray along with examples of praying the Scriptures.

Even the disciples asked for instruction about how to pray. In the gospels, they asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. He did this by giving them what we call The Lord’s Prayer.

Pray like this: ‘Our Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms, may the glory of your name
be the center on which our lives turn.
Manifest your kingdom realm, and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth,
just as it is fulfilled in heaven.
We acknowledge you as our Provider of all we need each day.
Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we ourselves release forgiveness to those who have
wronged us.
Rescue us every time we face tribulation and set us free from evil.
For you are the King who rules with power and glory forever. Amen.’ Matthew 6:9-13 TPT

As a result, they had a greater understanding of the purpose and power of prayer.

Speaking the Word of God in Prayer

To clarify, the Bible is more than just a bunch of words or a collection of great quotes. God’s word is alive and is meant to be lived. It is powerful and is meant to be part of you and spoken by You. Praying the Word of God is powerful. It can’t be anything else! God spoke and it was good. Elijah spoke and water turned into fire. Joshua told the sun to stand still and it did. Jesus spoke and the veil of the temple was torn in half. Jesus spoke and the blind saw, lepers were healed, and the dead came back to life.

Similarly, scriptures you personalize and pray out loud carry God’s authority. This means we must be careful with our words and know the Bible so that we speak in accordance with its teachings.
